Get Married in New Mexico
Okay, maybe New Mexico's not high on your list for desination wedding locations. But, it should be. The cities of Albuquerque and Santa Fe have over 300 sunny days a year, which means the chances of your fabulous outdoor ceremony being fabulously sunny are greatly increased.
Plus, there's also the beauty of the expansive high desert, which look absolutely stunning when viewed from a hot air balloon over Albuquerque. And, yes, you can even say "I do" in one of those hot air balloons.
What are some romantic spots you might want to consider in New Mexico? Well, in a 2008 report on KOAT in Albuquerque, they listed the 7 most romantic spots in New Mexico, according to their viewers who responded to a poll. Of the 7, 4 of those places offer their venues for weddings. They are:
- Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs Resort and Spa, 1 hour from Santa Fe
- Los Poblanos Inn in Los Ranchos, near Albuquerque
- Cloudcroft Lodge Resort, which is 200 miles south of Albuquerque. (You even get a friendly haunted ghost who may drop in)
- Hyatt's Tamaya Resort on the Santa Ana Pueblo, about an hour north of Albuquerque
I have more suggestions for you on our New Mexico Wedding Venues page, so go take a look. I've also included a YouTube video of Taos, of which D.H. Lawrence once wrote, “You cannot come to Taos without feeling that here is one of the chosen spots on earth.” If that's not a place you want to consider for your wedding, I don't know what is!
