Nicaragua Destination Wedding Venues

Here's a destination which may not be making it on your radar, but one you might consider if you're an adventurous couple looking for an eco wedding in an exotic location. Nicaragua. In fact, some call Nicaragua the new Costa Rica, poised to become a tourist hot spot. And, it's considered by "International Living" as "the world's best retirement secret." Considered by some to be the most beautiful country in the Americas, Nicaragua is blessed with a stunning coastline, numerous active and inactive volcanoes, and large freshwater lakes. One lake, Lake Nicaragua, happens to be the 10th-largest freshwater lake in the world, known for its freshwater sharks, the only ones in the world.

There are many venues you may want to consider in Nicaragua, but three pop into my head right now:

Morgan's Rock Hacienda & Ecolodge - boasting a pristine private beach with beautiful Pacific Ocean views; part of a 1,000-hectares tree farming and reforestation project as well as an 800-hectare private nature reserve. Consists of 15 bungalows with private deck; connected to the main lodge by a 110-meter suspension bridge crossing a forested canyon.

Wedding packages at Morgan's Rock for 2010 will start at around $1,200 for the couple and includes a beach ceremony, followed by a reception with appetizers, a champagne toast, open bar, a four or five-course dinner with wine, a wedding cake and live music. Call +505-8670-7676 or email events@morgansrock.com for more information.

Barceló Montelimar Beach Resort and Casino - a 5-star beach-front Nicaraguan resort, situated in the lush tropical rainforests on the Pacific Ocean. This is a fabulous resort, boasting approximately 2.5 miles of sandy coastline, as well as the largest swimming pool in South America.

Wedding packages at the resort starts at $3500, and includes a ceremony and reception on the beach, banquet buffet for 50 people, free bar for 5 hours, and a suite for the wedding night.  For more information, call 1-800-227-23-56 or email weddings@barcelo.com.

Piedras Y Olas, a Pelican Eyes Resort - located on the bay of San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua, Piedras Y Olas boasts stunning ocean views, as well as lush gardens. And, by staying at Piedras Y Olas, you also help to support the local community, which is a very good thing. Piedras Y Olas is close to the things you come to Nicaragua for: the volcanoes of nearby Ometepe Island, nature reserves, jungle, and great surfing.  While there, make sure you take in a jungle canopy tour, or a day of sailing through Pelican Eyes Sailing Adventures

They offer four different wedding packages, including the "Pelican Eyes Sailing Ceremony" with up to 15 guests. For more information you can contact their wedding coordinator by emailing weddings@piedrasyolas.com

Great article on wedding location options in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua. There are even more options these days available for both large and small groups. If you have any questions, please contact me gabby0927@gmail.com
